City of Hillsboro Guidelines & Recycling Information
Please have your recyclables on the curb by 7:00 A.M. on your pick-up day.
- If your regular pickup day falls on or after a holiday, your pickup will be delayed by one (1) day starting from that
holiday and running through Friday of that week. Friday will NOT be delayed.
- Bulky and extra item trash collection will take place the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Items included in this collection
are: Two (2) large items; Two (2) medium sized items and two (2) additional containers or bags not exceeding 35
pounds. Examples of “large” items include: couch, mattress, recliner, etc. Examples of “medium” sized items
includes: end table, lamp, dining chair, etc. This service does not include mandatory recycling items such as
televisions, computers, tires, and Freon containing appliance. Contact us today for arrangements for pick-up of this
type of items.
- Collection of co-mingled recycling includes: tin, glass, aluminum, plastic, newspapers, magazines, cardboard, and
low-grade mixed paper. Metal Items and small non-freon containing appliances such as Vacuum Cleaners,
Bicycles, Toasters and VCR’s. Co-mingled recyclables are picked up every other week, on Tuesday.
- Co-mingled recycling can be put to the curb in one container instead of being sorted. If using plastic bags, only
clear bags are allowed. Boxes, paper sacks, 5 gallon pails, etc. are also allowed for setting out recycling.

Plastic Bags, Film, Wrap,Bubble Wrap,
Styrofoam, Wax Paper
